JIRCAS Visiting Research Fellowship Program 2006 (Tsukuba and Okinawa)

The Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) has implemented the “Visiting Research Fellowship Program at Okinawa, and at Tsukuba” since 1992 and 1995, respectively. Starting this year, these two fellowships are modified and combined together under one program.

The JIRCAS Visiting Research Fellowship Program aims at the promotion of collaborative research to address various problems confronting the countries in developing regions on a global scale, including the critical situation of food production, the progression of desertification and the gradual disappearance of genetic resources.

Under this Fellowship Program JIRCAS is inviting young promising researchers from institutes in developing regions who will play a major role in the activities of these institutes in the future to carry out collaborative research for the sustainable development or rapid progress of agriculture, forestry and fisheries compatible with the preservation of the natural environment.

Fifteen (15) researchers will be selected to conduct research on a specified theme either at JIRCAS HQ in Tsukuba or in its Subtropical Station in Ishigaki, OkinawaPrefecture for a period of one (1) year.
